# Wallets and privacy

> Sign-in, pass payments, public records, and your personal workspace.

## Sign-in and payment are different actions

A login-message signature proves control of your address. It does not pay for a pass, transfer tokens, or require a network fee.

A pass purchase separately asks your wallet to approve USDC spending and confirm the purchase transaction. Check Base, the amount, and the [contract address](/en/contracts/addresses). USDC allowance concerns payment; ordinary NFT transfers are prohibited.

Klieg does not request your seed phrase or private key. Researching tokens does not cause the app to sign or send trades on your behalf.

## What is public

The wallet address, purchase transaction, issued pass, and data defined by the contract are visible onchain. Gold support units and contribution amounts are public. Gold recovery creates a public link between the old and new wallets.

This is not an anonymous payment method. Using a wallet does not hide its address history.

## Your personal workspace

Caller cohorts, Watchlist, and user notifications belong to the login wallet and are accessed through an authenticated app session. They are not written into the access NFT.

A Research contribution is associated with your account for review and reputation. Public contributor presentation uses a separate identifier; this does not mean the service team cannot associate activity with your wallet.

## Changing wallets or devices

Sign in with the address that owns the pass. Another address represents another workspace. Expiry, revocation, or signing out may require a new login proof.

Sign out after using a shared device. If the wrong address is connected, use the wallet selector on the sign-in screen.

## Researching third-party tokens

Posts and source links belong to external callers and platforms. A token appearing in Klieg does not mean the project is endorsed. Position, liquidity, and risk information has a particular observation time and coverage limits; read it alongside the [evidence model](/en/concepts/evidence).
